Omnipresent since the start of 2021, Microids continues to be talked about regularly, as is the case today. The French company has just announced the opening of a new internal development studio, the second after the one that was opened in Lyon in June 2021. Based in Paris, this new studio will be responsible for working on new adventure games and to do this, a certain Antoine Villette was appointed to head this Microids Studio Paris as Director. Known for having been the founder and president of Darkworks, he also worked on Cold Fear and Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare. In 2011, he decided to retrain by taking the digital direction of the Picasso Museum in Paris, knowing that he had contributed to the influence of the Pass Culture in France as Director of Technologies. It is therefore a homecoming for the man expressed in the freshly sent press release:
This new project is a real challenge. The opening of this studio in Paris will allow the teams to devote themselves to new large-scale projects that will emerge in the coming years. It is today with great ambitions, humility and greed that I join Microids to take the direction of its Parisian studio. And I would like to thank Stéphane Longeard and Elliot Grassiano for the trust they place in me and for allowing me to reconnect with my first loves.
If Microids has been showing new ambitions for some time now, we can see that the French firm is giving itself the means to prove that a shift has been made internally to offer solid projects. The next Asterix & Obelix: Slap them All with the studio Mr Nutz at the helm and a certain Julien Hubert (yes, the Gameblog's Julo) at the production should be one of the more than concrete results of this change of mentality led by Stéphane Longeard, CEO of Microids.
The creation of this studio is in addition to the one we launched last June, under the direction of David Chomard. Microids Studio Paris aims to develop adventure games and we at Microids are committed to offering a varied line-up for all players. We are delighted to be able to count on Antoine Villette (founder and president of Darkworks) to lead this studio.
