I don't think that this threatening backdrop will bring anything. I would even go so far as to claim that the constant fear of the mob and the stress that comes with it reduce the self-control of a potential perpetrator and make abuse more likely.
In addition, vigilante justice often leads to the wrong people being accused and to giving the real perpetrators enough time to cover up their actions. In addition, these self-proclaimed “hunters” are more interested in their self-portrayal than in the real protection of children.
That's why I think it makes more sense that pedophiles (and pederasts) learn in therapy to get their drives into the term.
In addition, one often forgets that many of the perpetrators are still children or adolescents themselves. This can be achieved just as little with the threatening backdrop as family members who commit their deeds in the protection of privacy.
